BIOGRAPHY
Lautaro Javier Martínez is an Argentine forward, captain of Inter, and a player for the Argentina national team. He is considered one of the best central forwards of his generation thanks to his composure in the penalty area, dribbling ability, and clinical finishing.
Early Years and Racing Club
Martínez grew up in a football family and began his career at the local club Liniers. In 2014, he joined the Racing Club academy. At first, he struggled with homesickness and considered returning home, but he stayed and quickly became one of the leaders of the youth team, scoring 53 goals in 64 matches for the reserve side.
He made his first-team debut for Racing in 2015. During the 2016–17 season, he secured a starting spot and scored 9 league goals. In 2018, he scored a hat-trick in the Copa Libertadores against Cruzeiro, firmly establishing himself as the club’s main star.
Transfer to Inter and Emergence as a Leader
In the summer of 2018, Martínez joined Inter for €22.7 million. In his first season, he gradually adapted to Serie A and by 2019 had become a key attacking player.
In 2020, he helped Inter reach the UEFA Europa League final. In 2023, he scored the decisive goal in the UEFA Champions League semifinal against Milan, sending the club to the final for the first time in 13 years.
After Samir Handanović’s departure, Martínez became the team captain.

The 2023–24 season became the best of his career:
- 24 goals in Serie A — top scorer of the league (Capocannoniere)
- Named Serie A MVP
- Led Inter to the league title
By 2026, he entered the top three scorers in the club’s history.
