Biography

Kylian Mbappé Lottin is a French forward, a Real Madrid player and captain of the French national team. He is considered one of the best footballers in the world — for his speed, dribbling, and clinical finishing.

Mbappé was born in Paris and grew up in Bondy. As a child, he played for AS Bondy, where he was coached by his father, Wilfried Mbappé. Later, Kylian went through the Clairefontaine academy, after which at the age of 14 (July 2013) he signed a contract with the Monaco academy.

Monaco: Early Breakthrough and Championship

Mbappé made his first-team debut for Monaco on December 2, 2015, in a Ligue 1 match against Caen, becoming the youngest debutant in the club’s history (breaking Thierry Henry’s record). He scored his first goal for the senior team on February 20, 2016 — also becoming Monaco’s youngest-ever goalscorer. In the 2016/17 season, he was a key player in the title-winning squad and finished the season with 26 goals in 44 matches, as Monaco won Ligue 1 and reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals.

PSG: Record Transfer and Era of Trophies

On August 31, 2017, Mbappé joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an obligation to buy, and the deal ultimately amounted to €180 million — making him the most expensive teenager in history and the second most expensive player in the world at that time. In Paris, he won 6 Ligue 1 titles and 4 French Cups, including a domestic quadruple in the 2019/20 season, and also helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in its history (2020).

Mbappé became PSG’s all-time top scorer, ranks among the club’s top assist providers, and is one of the top scorers in Ligue 1 history. In the 2021/22 season, he became the first player to finish a Ligue 1 season as both top scorer and top assist provider.

Real Madrid: Dream Move and Debut Season Records

In 2024, Mbappé joined Real Madrid as a free agent and signed a five-year contract. Already in the first half of his debut season, he won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, scoring in both finals.

In his debut season, he set the record for most goals by a Real Madrid player in their first year, won the Pichichi Trophy, and claimed the European Golden Shoe for the first time in his career.

France National Team

Mbappé made his senior debut for the French national team in 2017. At the 2018 World Cup, he became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup and also the second teenager after Pelé to score in a final — France won the tournament, and Mbappé received the Best Young Player award.

In 2021, he helped France win the UEFA Nations League and became the top scorer of the final stage. At the 2022 World Cup, Mbappé won the Golden Boot and the Silver Ball, and his hat-trick in the final made him the record holder for goals scored in World Cup finals. In 2023, he became captain of the French national team.

Personal Life

Kylian Mbappé is a practicing Christian. In interviews, he has repeatedly said that faith and family help him maintain balance in his career and cope with the pressure of top-level football.

He grew up in a sporting family:

  • his father, Wilfried, is a football coach;
  • his mother, Fayza Lamari, is a former handball player of Algerian origin;
  • his younger brother, Ethan, is a professional footballer;
  • his adoptive older brother, Jirès Kembo Ekoko, also played professionally.

Despite early fame, Mbappé has noted that as a teenager he consciously gave up an “ordinary life” — parties and a flexible schedule — in order to fully focus on his football development.

He speaks French, English, and Spanish fluently.

In June 2024, during the European Championship, Mbappé publicly urged young people to participate in elections in France and to stand against what he described as “extreme views.” It was a rare case of an active captain of the French national team openly speaking on a political issue.

In autumn 2024, an investigation was launched in Sweden over allegations of rape and harassment following Mbappé’s visit to Stockholm. In December of the same year, the case was closed due to insufficient evidence.

Mbappé remains one of the most recognizable figures in global sports: his social media audience exceeds 100 million followers, and he is among the most influential and highest-paid athletes in the world.

'Galacticos 2.0': Leboeuf Explains Why Three Superstars Isn't 'God Mode'—It's a Headache

If you thought cramming Bellingham, Vinícius and Mbappé into the same dressing room is basically a cheat code for trophies, Frank Leboeuf just showed up and gently (well… sort of) yanked off the rose-tinted glasses. In his logic, when you’ve got several “give me the ball and step aside” guys on the...

Real Win Again — And Leave a Ton of Questions (But Alonso Survives for Now)

Real’s last match of 2025 felt weirdly familiar: the scoreboard looks nice, but the vibe from the performance is… kinda unsettling. They shut Sevilla out 2-0; Bellingham and Mbappé scored, and the real MVP (not by stats, but by impact) was Rodrygo. And yeah, this win honestly feels like the one that...
