The Turkey women's national basketball team has completed the final stage of preparation for the upcoming 2025 European Championship — organized under the auspices of FIBA. According to the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF), the concluding practice session was held at the Basketball Development Center (Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi) under the guidance of head coach Ekrem Memnun.

After intense workouts, the Red and Whites (ay-yıldızlılar) will depart tomorrow for Piraeus, Greece, where the group-stage games await them. The Turks will travel to the continental tournament with 12 players: the coaching staff has finalized the roster, and forward Sehernaz Çidal was the only athlete omitted from the expanded list.

Group A Game Schedule

  • 18 June, Wednesday, 17:30 — Turkey vs France
  • 19 June, Thursday, 17:30 — Switzerland vs Turkey
  • 21 June, Saturday, 20:30 — Greece vs Turkey

In Istanbul, the team focused on tactical sets, collective defense, and transitioning from defense to fast break, paying special attention to rebounding and full-court press. According to Ekrem Memnun, data gathered throughout the season enabled them to adjust the training process: “The completed cycle has given the players confidence and a true game rhythm ahead of decisive matchups.”

The Women's EuroBasket 2025 will feature a revamped format: group winners advance directly to the quarter-finals, while the second- and third-placed teams will battle for the remaining spots in an additional round. The Turkish squad has set a minimum goal of reaching the playoffs; captain Ebru Tuncer emphasizes that “the key will be aggressive defense and smart shot distribution.”

The federation has called on supporters to back the national side: “Every voice from the stands makes our players stronger. We hope to hear you in Piraeus and beyond on the road to medals.”
