Croatian forward Bojan Bogdanovic, who once shone for Istanbul’s “Fenerbahçe Beko” and most recently suited up for the “New York Knicks,” has officially announced that he is ending his professional career. The 36-year-old player, long regarded as one of the most consistent European scorers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), shared the news in a post on his Instagram page.

“In life, sometimes you don’t choose the moment — the moment chooses you. After battling a foot injury for fourteen months, undergoing two surgeries, and making countless efforts to return to the court, it’s time to close this chapter,” the basketball player wrote, detailing the hardships of his extended rehabilitation process.

Bogdanovic emphasized that the prolonged injury and subsequent surgical procedures compelled him to make this decision. All efforts aimed at recovery proved insufficient to guarantee the required level of game fitness; therefore, as the athlete notes, the decision to end his playing career became inevitable.

From 2011 to 2014, he wore the colors of “Fenerbahçe-Ülker” (now “Fenerbahçe Beko”), earning a reputation as a reliable three-point marksman and one of the leaders of the Turkish Super League. Crossing the Atlantic, he went on to play for six different NBA franchises:

  • Brooklyn Nets (“Brooklyn Nets”)
  • Washington Wizards (“Washington Wizards”)
  • Indiana Pacers (“Indiana Pacers”)
  • Utah Jazz (“Utah Jazz”)
  • Detroit Pistons (“Detroit Pistons”)
  • New York Knicks (“New York Knicks”)

Thus, the Croatian forward left a lasting mark on both the European stage and the world’s toughest league: his accurate shots from beyond the arc, knack for finding open space without the ball, and composure in clutch moments have become firmly embedded in modern basketball history. Today, as he closes the door on his professional career, Bogdanovic opens a new chapter in his life, remaining an enduring legend for fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
