Bayern Munich made a perfect start to the FIFA Club World Cup, annihilating New Zealand’s Auckland City 10–0 and establishing a new tournament record for the biggest winning margin.

The Group C clash was held at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, USA. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the 6th minute, and Sacha Boey doubled the lead in the 18th. Two minutes later, Michael Olise pushed the tally to 3–0 (20'). Coman netted his second on 21 minutes, while Olise completed his brace with a precise strike deep into first-half stoppage time (45+3'). Almost immediately afterwards Thomas Müller fired home the sixth goal on 45 minutes.

After the break the Reds did not ease off: Jamal Musiala struck three times—on 68, 73 and 84 minutes—securing a hat-trick. Müller re-emerged in the 89th minute to seal a double-digit rout at 10–0.

This emphatic victory earned Bayern the first three points of the tournament. Interestingly, the club’s new recruit and former Galatasaray talisman Leroy Sané, who started on the bench, remained unused throughout the encounter.

The previous benchmark for the competition’s widest win was Al-Hilal’s 6–1 triumph over Al-Jazira in 2021, yet the German giants eclipsed that mark by four goals.

In the next round the Munich side will meet Argentina’s Boca Juniors, while Auckland City will seek redemption against Portuguese outfit Benfica.

In doing so Bayern not only opened the tournament but also issued a resounding statement of intent for the title, showcasing clinical finishing and ironclad discipline across all departments.
