Biography

Early Years and Beginning of Career

Pedro González López, better known as Pedri, was born on November 25, 2002, in Bajamar (Tenerife, Canary Islands). In childhood, his family moved to Tegueste. He began playing as a central defender at the local club UD Tegueste, later played for “Laguna,” and in 2018 joined the Las Palmas system.

Professional Debut and Move to Barcelona

At 16, he signed his first professional contract and soon made his debut in Segunda División, becoming the youngest goal scorer in Las Palmas history. In the summer of 2020, he moved to Barcelona for €5 million. In his debut season, he secured a place in the starting lineup, scored in the Champions League, and won the Copa del Rey.

Contract, Awards, and Titles

In 2021, he signed a new contract with a €1 billion release clause and received two prestigious individual awards — Golden Boy and the Kopa Trophy. In the 2022–23 season, he helped the club win the Spanish championship.

Period Under Hansi Flick

Under Hansi Flick in the 2024–25 season, Pedri experienced one of the best periods of his career, becoming a key player in the “treble” — victories in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. In January 2025, he extended his contract with the club until 2030. In December 2025, he became the youngest player in Barcelona’s history to reach 150 matches in La Liga.

Spain National Team

He made his debut for the Spain national team in 2021. At Euro 2020, he became the youngest player in the national team’s history at European Championships and was named the tournament’s Best Young Player. He also participated in the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, where Spain won the title.

Personal Life

Pedri grew up in a football family: his father runs a local Barcelona supporters’ club. He maintains a close bond with his family and is known for his modest lifestyle.

In 2025, he was linked with Alejandra Dorta. Earlier, in a 2023 interview, Pedri stated that he was focused on his career and not in a relationship.

A family tradition after winning trophies remains a symbolic penalty: Pedri takes a shot at his father’s goal in honor of each title won.

He is described as a calm and reserved person despite his worldwide fame. In 2024, he noted that he is actively studying English.
