Biography of Désiré Doué
Désiré Nonka-Maho Doué was born on June 3, 2005, in Angers. He grew up in a football family — his father is Ivorian, his mother is French, his brother Guela Doué also became a professional footballer, and among his relatives are several other players as well as former Ivorian referee Noumandiez Doué. Such an environment shaped his competitive character and understanding of football as a profession from an early age.
Doué joined the Rennes academy in 2011 at the age of five. He progressed through the entire club system, started playing for the reserve team in 2021, and signed his first professional contract in April 2022. In August 2022, he made his Ligue 1 debut, and on August 31 he scored his first senior goal, becoming the first player born in 2005 to score in one of Europe’s top five leagues. Later that autumn, he also became the youngest French goalscorer in European club competitions.
His seasons at Rennes established Désiré Doué as one of the brightest young talents in French football. In his first full campaign, he accumulated significant playing time, and in the second, he became much more influential in attack, playing both centrally and on the wings. At Rennes, he was not just a technical youngster but a player capable of taking responsibility, progressing the ball, and creating differences in the final third. He made 76 appearances and scored 8 goals for the first team.
In the summer of 2024, PSG paid €50 million for Doué, excluding bonuses. The player chose the Parisian club, turning down Bayern Munich, and signed a contract until 2029. The move looked like an investment in the future, but his adaptation was very quick — already in his debut season, he became an important figure in Luis Enrique’s squad.
The 2024–2025 season marked his breakthrough at the elite level. Doué helped PSG win a treble:
- Ligue 1
- Coupe de France
- UEFA Champions League
In the Champions League final against Inter, he recorded 2 goals and 1 assist, was named Man of the Match, and set several age-related records for the final. At the end of the season, he received:
- Ligue 1 Best Young Player award
- Champions League Best Young Player award
- Golden Boy 2025
At the international level, Doué progressed through France’s youth teams, won the U17 European Championship, earned a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics, and made his debut for the senior France national team in March 2025. By autumn 2025, he had 4 caps for the senior team, and in June 2025 he also won a Nations League bronze medal.

Désiré Doué was born into a multicultural family and holds dual citizenship — French and Ivorian. This is an important part of his biography, as he grew up at the intersection of two football cultures but consistently chose France at the international level.
