Biography
Can Yılmaz Uzun is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Turkey national team. Born in Regensburg (Germany) to Turkish parents, he has combined Germany’s football schooling with his Turkish cultural roots since childhood.
He began his football journey in his hometown, developing in the SSV Jahn Regensburg system before moving to Bayern Munich’s academy. In Munich, he progressed to the U19 team and recorded 6 goals and 8 assists in the 2021/22 season.
In the summer of 2022, as a free agent, Uzun signed a contract with Nürnberg. He showed high productivity in youth competitions, and in the 2023/24 season he firmly established himself in the first team, scoring 16 goals in the 2. Bundesliga and becoming one of the league’s standout revelations.
On 2 July 2024, he joined Eintracht Frankfurt, signing a five-year contract. In his debut Bundesliga season, he played 20 matches, helped the team finish third, and qualify for the UEFA Champions League. In the 2025/26 campaign, he became a key player at the start of the season, operating as a “number 10” and regularly influencing the team’s attacking output.
At international level, Uzun represented Turkey at youth levels, and in 2024 he made his debut for the senior national team, ultimately choosing Turkey despite having the option to play for Germany.
Personal Life
Can Uzun grew up in Bavaria’s multicultural environment, in a family with a Turkish father and a German mother. He is fluent in several languages and has maintained close ties to Turkish culture and his family’s history from an early age.
Despite his growing popularity, Uzun leads a fairly private lifestyle. He does not publicize personal relationships and prefers to focus on his professional development. In interviews, he has noted that family remains his main reference point and source of support.
Off the pitch, Uzun is interested in modern football from an analytical perspective—he carefully studies matches, tactical breakdowns, and coaches’ work. This helps him adapt more quickly to the demands of the Bundesliga.
