Cenk Tosun, a striker for the Turkey national team who joined Istanbul giants Fenerbahçe last summer, has yet to secure the amount of playing time he expected. Turkish sports outlets report that one Süper Lig club is already prepared to send the Canaries (Fenerbahçe) a formal transfer offer for him.

The club in question is Samsunspor, which finished third in the most recent Turkish league campaign and is determined to strengthen its attacking line before the new season kicks off. The Red-and-Whites view the 33-year-old marksman as an experienced forward capable of instantly increasing goal output and adding variety in the final third.

Sources close to the negotiations say the Black Sea side’s board will finalize and dispatch an official bid to Istanbul in the coming days. It is noted that even during stretches when the Yellow-Navy Blues looked toothless up front, head coach José Mourinho almost never entrusted Tosun with a starting-XI spot, prompting questions from supporters.

The player himself has made it clear he wants to join a team where he can log regular minutes and spend more time on the pitch than is possible at Fener. According to Turkish journalists, Mourinho privately conceded:

“I regret giving him so little time. Looking back, I realise I could have used him more often.”

Consequently, the coming week could prove decisive for the veteran striker’s future. Everything hinges on how compelling the financial package Samsunspor puts on the table is—and whether it satisfies both Fenerbahçe’s hierarchy and Tosun himself, who longs to reclaim a starting role and enjoy consistent match practice.
