After 26 years together, Petr Cech and his wife Martina announced their separation. The former goalkeeper of Chelsea, Arsenal, and the Czech national team emphasized that their relationship remains friendly, and above all—they are both proud of their children. The announcement was accompanied by a black-and-white photo in which Martina kisses Petr on the cheek—a calm and respectful gesture at a difficult moment.

A Low-Key Statement

The 43-year-old Cech shared the change in his personal life on social media, noting that he and Martina “remain best friends.” The couple did not reveal details about the reasons, placing the emphasis on respect and parental responsibility.

From School Desks to a Family Team

Petr and Martina met back in 1999 while still at school, and married in the summer of 2003. Over the years they built a strong family and raised two children—17-year-old Adela and 16-year-old Damian.

A Football Dynasty in Action

Both children chose the sporting path. Adela is a defender for Fulham and plays for the Czech Republic U-17s. Damian continued the family’s goalkeeping line: earlier this year he signed his first professional contract with Fulham. For young athletes, this is an important step—from academy to professional level.

Cech’s New Position — On the Ice

After finishing his football career, Petr did not leave sport and switched to hockey. In November 2023 he made his debut for Belfast in the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League, donning the mask as a goaltender on the ice—a rare but telling transition for a former football star.

Looking Ahead

The story of the Cech family is about respect and support that do not end when the relationship status changes. Petr and Martina are staking on their children’s future and their own professional goals—quietly, without unnecessary noise, yet with the same sporting character that has always defined their family.
